Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist

Fit between therapist and client is paramount. The therapeutic relationship is often the most cited factor in scientific studies that leads to personal growth, healing, and change. Therefore, it is important to choose a therapist you feel comfortable with, safe with, and feel understood by. I encourage the people I work with to provide me with feedback, positive or negative, to ensure we are both working together as expected and hoped for by you. I strive to ensure that you will feel empowered through our work, and choosing the right therapist (and firing the wrong one, if necessary) is the first step in advocating for your mental health and wellbeing.

*For a bit more detail on the relationship between client and therapist, check out an article I wrote for The Anxiety Relief Project here.
