My education and training combined with my own life experience leads me to approach individuals in psychotherapy collaboratively, with a focus on how to meaningfully and healthfully navigate life events, whether they be linked to a specific mental health issue or more general distress and concerns. Through the development of greater awareness, contemplation, and intentional problem solving, I work alongside people who are struggling to make meaning out of their life, individuals searching for understanding, people in relationships they feel unsatisfied in (romantic or other), and those who want to live more comfortably in their own skin.
My training and professional experience includes settings such as university counseling centers, community mental health clinics, a county health department, and private practice. While trained as a generalist to provide treatment for a variety of mental health concerns across the lifespan, my clinical specialties include working with:
- Trauma - Relationship/Family Distress - Stress and Time Management
- Depression - Life Transitions - College Students and Young Adults
- Anxiety - Grief/Loss - Autism Spectrum Disorder/Asperger's
I am a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of Illinois and New York. I earned a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Illinois. I completed my pre-doctoral internship at the New Mexico State University Counseling Center and received a fellowship from the Naomi Ruth Cohen Institute for Mental Health Education. I am also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional by the International Association of Trauma Professionals. Along with psychotherapeutic services, I also provide PTSD and mental disorder disability evaluations for veterans submitting benefit claims to VA.
